Kürzlich wurden in Madeira die World Travel Awards für Europa verliehen. Die vom Wall Street Journal einst als Oscars der Reisebranche bezeichneten Preise werden in dutzenden Kategorien vergeben. Tageskarte präsentiert die europäischen Gewinner in der Hotellerie sowie die Sieger aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz.
Kein anderer Preis in der Touristik differenziert so stark wie die World Travel Awards: Das Spektrum der Awards reicht von Fluggesellschaften über Hotels, Autovermieter und Reiseveranstalter bis hin zu Kreuzfahrtreedereien und Destinationen. Insgesamt mehr als 100 Kategorien stehen zur Wahl an.
Seit 1993 werden die World Travel Awards jährlich vergeben. Die Abstimmung erfolgt durch Reise- und Touristikexperten aus mehr als 160 Ländern
